Multivitamins are a popular supplements intended to replenish the body with minerals, vitamins, and other nutrients the body does not produce on its own. Did you ever think that multivitamins could cause an imbalance? There is new evidence emerging cautioning multivitamins as being a leading cause of deficiencies in the body.
Isolated Vitamins and Minerals
Most multivitamins on the market today list an exact milligram or percentage of what is inside. Without thinking about it in depth, it appears there are many ingredients included there which we would not be getting in our normal food choices. In fact, that is often the case. We might gulp down a few multivitamins a day, give some to our kids, and go on our way thinking we've done our bodies a good service.
Now let's critically think about a few facts. These ingredients are labeled in IU or milligrams because they have been isolated or processed from the natural source and separated or it may not even be from nature at all. For example, ascorbic acid does not produce the same biological effect as its natural (organic) form of Vitamin C. The fact is when the body receives minerals and vitamins, there must be the right portion of activators or catalysts present to allow the full benefit of a synergistic effect. Without the proper activators, the body attempts to use its own resources to counter-balance the influx of a multivitamin. This process continues until the body has used up the resources of a particular vitamin, thereby creating a deficiency.
Multivitamins Warning!
The synthetic version of Vitamin A and D are actually toxic, yet are sold in some places. Kidney and liver issues are now examined extensively from intake of unusable, inorganic, and non-synergistic vitamins! Those are in large part due to the advice of taking multivitamins and the lack of knowledge of the consumer to find the right sources of nutrition.
